Women’s History Month Spotlight: Ashlee Bruce

Ashlee Bruce has been a part of NAMIC – Virginia since it first started 5 years ago. For 3 of those 5 years she served on the Social Media and Logistics Team. Ashlee has been working for Cox Communications for 9 years with her latest position being an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources for the Virginia Region. She also has served 5 years on the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Council at Cox Communications. By doing this she is proud to say she has been very active in helping to create a diverse work place at Cox. She has recently graduated with a Associate degree in Business and is now pursuing her Bachelors degree. She actively volunteers within her community but one of her favorites is the annual Field Day event for the organization “ForKids.” On Saturdays she helps women in Hampton Roads to learn how to defend themselves by teaching Muay Thai/Kickboxing.

When asked what Women’s History Month means to her, Ashlee shared:

Women’s History Month is very special to me. Having two girls and growing up with strong women in my life, it is so wonderful to be able to take the time to recognize them. Many only celebrate the MAJOR accomplishments women have made in history, but I love when we celebrate the small acts women do every day that make a profound difference. From the stay at home mom to the woman who is running a company, each woman is special in their own way and contributes to the positive changes we make in society. I often think of the quote by Mother Teresa, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”

Thank you, Ashlee. You’re what Women’s History Month is all about.
