On Wednesday April 27th, the NAMIC-Virginia chapter met virtually to review last year’s successes and look for opportunities of growth in 2022. While Covid-19 posed some logistical challenges, our Virginia chapter’s Immediate Past President, Lakysha Laing, and Vice President, Azariah Workman, did not let us forget that We Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop! NAMIC-Virginia hosted 32 Virtual Events throughout the year, increased our Social Media presence, and maintained strong partnerships with many organizations focusing on education, engagement, and personal experiences. Our Treasurer, Drew Sutton, reported that we were able to exceed our net income goal by $1,500.00 while providing exceptional content to our members and community partners. Our new website launched at the end of 2021, and we need to thank our members, Corporate Sponsors and Partners for their contributions towards this effort.
The three Committee Chairs went over each of their teams’ responsibilities and are actively seeking new volunteers to join their groups. Our Programming Chair, Tony Ford, shared highlights from some of 2021’s most memorable events. The Marketing and Logistics Chair, Derrick Williams, went over our marketing goals and launched a contest to promote our Social Media platform following. Veronica Quick, our Membership and Recruitment Chair, discussed opportunities for 2022 growth and outreach to create more visibility across the industry.
Finally, we answered some feedback polls with our Secretary, Gail Thorogood, surrounding future events, new prospective panelists, and the overall feel from the chapter members returning to in-person happenings. We hope that you found the meeting to be informative and most of all, encouraging for the 2022 year ahead. We look forward to seeing everyone in-person soon for future activities and meetings for NAMIC-Virginia. Lastly, congratulations to our raffle winners who were on the call, Erica Webb, Cary Brinkley, and Kerashia Brown.
