On July 27th NAMIC – Virginia hosted a phenomenal event focused on making your mark and standing out from the competition when it comes to your career journey. The conversation started with our esteemed panel sharing their best career accomplishments and listening to how they define the roles of mentors, advisors, and sponsors. They can help in shepherding careers, allowing employees to walk in their purpose, and provide the professional framework to guide employees along their way. 

It is important to realize that you are always interviewing every day for your next opportunity and even in a virtual world we need to show up. Remember that starting a conversation is never easy, no matter if you are an introvert or an extrovert. Participating in more inside office activities and making connections beyond the professional role are also key factors to promoting your brand.  

Navigating the professional world can be difficult and sometimes we have to deal with unpleasant situations. Bouncing back after rejection can be hard, but stay strong and hold your head high. Ask for feedback to help your grow and learn how to make necessary career pivots. Never forget that we should be the captains of our own careers.
