Women’s History Month Spotlight – Shinese Collins

To kick off our series of Women’s History Month Spotlights, NAMC-Virginia start with Shinese Collins, one of the founding members of NAMIC – Virginia who also once served as Chapter Secretary. Shinese has 25+ years corporate experience, 18 years professional board experience, 7+ years people leadership, 15 years leadership, management and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion experience, and 3 years instructor experience. Collins is a motivational speaker who has been recognized as a Women to Watch by A+E in their 2019 SheReports. She is Co-lead of EmpowerHER mentoring circle and served as the WICT Network: Virginia, chapter president from 2018-2022. She also held roles with the Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc as chapter president 2018-2022 and vice president 2014-2018. Additionally, as owner of Shinese Collins Unlimited, she is a certified Life & Success Coach, as well as a Personal & Executive Coach who has offered 5+ years speaking, coaching, training across various industries and shines as an award-winning Author of Resilient on Purpose.

In her rare spare time, she enjoys giving back through volunteering. In 2022 alone, she shared her time with 8 vaccination clinics – 20 hours, Foodbank Mayflower Marathon food drive – 4 hours, and the Angel Tree Program at Second Calvary Baptist Church providing Christmas gifts and meals to 91 families including 214 children.

When asked what Women’s History Month meant to her, Shinese replied: Although women make significant contributions worldwide daily, I feel it’s important to take time to highlight and celebrate the accomplishments of women during women’s history month. It’s an opportunity to generate awareness about little known facts where women have been trailblazers, advocates, and creators of businesses, books and brands that are instrumental in impacting communities and changing the world.

Thanks, Shinese for all you do and for allowing us to share this spotlight on you. This is what Women’s History Month is all about.
