Lakysha has 24 years of leadership and call center experience in Customer Service, working in call center environments in the technical support space. She has a passion for leadership development and mentoring employees to bring their personal best each day. Lakysha is Director of Onboarding for Customer Care where she is directly responsible for all onboarding activities for new hires across the Customer Care organization for the residential Technical Support & residential/business Account Services call center positions. Lakysha and her teams in Wichita, Baton Rouge, Hampton Roads, Phoenix and Omaha, are responsible for partnering with the recruiting, training and IT teams, to ensure all new employees are set up for success in their roles on Day 1 and throughout their 11-week training/nesting experience.
Prior to joining Cox, she held leadership roles in Technical Support as the Associate Director at Verizon, Customer Experience Director at Kaplan Test Prep and Manager of Call Center Operations with Cablevision. Her background and many of her successes have been in leading high performing teams and developing employee-focused initiatives that keep employees engaged and foster open & honest dialogue. She believes in making people feel valued and helping them find their career path based on their passions and dreams.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management, and an MBA in Business Administration. Lakysha recently completed a 4-month certificate program with Cornell University for Diversity & Inclusion for HR and a 6-month management accelerator program with McKinsey & Associates Black Leadership Academy Program.
Lakysha serves in capacity as Immediate Past President and one of the founding members of the Virginia Chapter for the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) serving the Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA areas. On October 21, 2021, she was awarded the coveted Change Agent Award by NAMIC National, for her leadership & commitment to offering a seat at the table for diverse professionals as the President of the Chapter. She is a mentoring circle lead for the Women’s ERG at Cox Communications for the past 4 years. She is also involved in the community with organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club, An Achievable Dream and sits on the board of directors for the Tidewater Friends of Foster Care.
Lakysha is a breast cancer survivor and has used her voice to bring awareness to the research needed to help organizations such as the American Cancer Society, eradicate this deadly breast cancer disease. She has participated in events such as Making Strides Hampton Roads, was featured in articles with Black Girl Health Foundation & For the Breast of Us, participated in a segment with Yurview Virginia and recently did a segment with WTKR highlighting the 35 Mile Breast Cancer Challenge where she exceeded the goal of 35 miles & raised funds to support the cause.
In her spare time, Lakysha loves to participate in community events, take road trips to various art exhibits in support of her husband, Cliff who is a visual artist & painter. She also enjoys whale watching and spending time with their children Alysha, Khalil, and her Lhasa Apso dog, Cassius.
